Resolution Recognizing the El Paso County Elections Department for its 50 Years of Service to the Voters of El Paso County

El Paso, TX – The El Paso County Elections Department would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the El Paso County Judge and Commissioners Court for honoring our department with a resolution recognizing 50 years of service to the voters of El Paso County. This acknowledgement reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring every voice is heard and every vote is counted.

Since 1975, we’ve dedicated to upholding the values of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in every election. This milestone is not just ours; it’s a shared achievement with our community who trust us to manage the electoral process.

We are proud to have registered 500,000 voters and to continue serving as a model for election administration in Texas. Thank you for your continued support and for entrusting us with the responsibility of safeguarding our democracy.

RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the El Paso County Elections Department has tirelessly served the residents of El Paso County with integrity, transparency, and dedication for 50 years; and,

WHEREAS, election departments are fundamental to the preservation and functioning of democracy across the nation, being responsible for managing polling places, ensuring accessibility, and overseeing the accurate counting and certification of ballots, thereby upholding the integrity of the electoral process; and,

WHEREAS, their diligent efforts in voter education and the enforcement of election laws further contribute to an informed and engaged electorate, essential for the health and continuity of our democratic system; and,

WHEREAS, in 1975, The El Paso County Commissioners Court created the Elections Department to consolidate all vital election functions under one roof; and,

WHEREAS, the El Paso County Elections Department was the model for the State of Texas when the Texas Legislature passed a law in 1979 encouraging other counties to create unified offices for county elections administrators; and,

WHEREAS, The El Paso County Elections Department has adapted to an evolving electoral landscape, implementing technological advancements, strengthening voter education efforts, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal election laws; and,

WHEREAS, the leadership and staff of the El Paso County Elections Department have consistently demonstrated a commitment to professionalism, impartiality, and service to the public, often working long hours to prepare for and manage elections, including during times of emergency and uncertainty; and

WHEREAS, the El Paso County Elections Department has been instrumental in registering over 500,000 El Pasoans to vote and engage in the democratic process of electing their representatives.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the El Paso County Judge and Commissioners Court hereby recognize and honor the El Paso County Elections Department for its 50 years of outstanding service, dedication to democracy, and unwavering commitment to the voters of El Paso County.
