Commissioners Court Expected to Approve New Election Precinct Maps on Thursday, December 18th
Miercoles, 17 de Diciembre del 2025

El Paso, Texas – The El Paso County Commissioners Court is expected to adopt new precinct maps during its special meeting on Thursday, December 18, 2025. This approval is required under Texas law following changes to legislative and congressional district boundaries made earlier this year. The new precinct maps will be used beginning with the 2026 midterm elections.

Election “precinct maps” are used by the El Paso County Elections Department to assign voters to the correct precinct based on their registration address. Precinct maps also determine which contests appear on their ballot when there’s an election. Precinct maps are separate from county commissioner precincts and are used strictly for election administration.

What’s not changing:
- County commissioner boundaries are not affected
- No action is required from voters right now

What is changing:
- Some voters will be assigned to a different election precinct
- Some voters will be assigned to a different U.S. Congressional District

These changes are part of a statewide effort to align election precincts with new district boundaries adopted during the 2025 midterm redistricting process.

Once adopted on Thursday, December 18th, the new precinct maps will be available on the El Paso County Elections Department website for public review. The maps will also be published in El Paso Inc. All El Paso County registered voters will receive their new 2026-2027 voter registration certificates upon adoption and implementation of the new boundaries.

The Commissioners Court Special Session, and all other public meetings, are recorded and can be viewed online at https://epcounty.primegov.com/public/portal.
